football bun?

while sitting in the car and waiting for mommy to set out, darren suddenly pick up his favourite football and bite it so hard till we can hear the teeth grinding sound. scarily!

it's my birthday!

darren was in extraordinary good feel since early in the morning, he auto showed off his sunshine smile when i took out my camera and about to take a picture. perhaps he knew that it was his birthday

happy birthday my baby... i never knew what life is about until i had you. thank you for being our son, out of the billions that you had chosen us. i love you every day and night, and even in my dreams. yes, i love you my baby and will always do...

Happy Birthday!

it seems like yesterday when darren was born. with just a blink of eye, today the little baby is celebrating his first birthday, how fast he has grown.

we actually had the birthday celebration yesterday, 1 day earlier. it was a simple dinner with all the 16 family members at a home based restaurant. knowing that darren is a fish lover, nai nai and yeh yeh specially bought 2 fresh pomfrets from the fisherman market and brought there to cook for their first grandson. besides the fish, we had oatmeal prawn, chili crab, black pepper crab, sweet sour pork in yam ring, claypot tofu, vege & etc. the food are very delicious and surprisingly cheap, less than RM200 for 10 dishes we ordered

we shifted to nai nai's place for cake cutting after the dinner. darren's first birthday cake is a customised 2 kg sponge cake with all the 6 characters of "in the night garden" hand-drawn on it. this is so unique and i don't think you can get another one in the world. suzanne jie jie, also super fan of ITNG, loves the cake very much and as if it is her birthday

birthday song time...

with loud vocal of suzanne and rachel jie jie plus darren's acoustic sound effect, the birthday song became rock and roll version *-)

yummy... darren likes this cake!

suzanne jie jie insisted on the portion with upsy daisy face, she wanted to finish that chunk of cake at her own, no one is allowed to touch a single inch

finally darren had a chance to take picture with busy daddy (who purposely wear a polo shirt with no.1 on his chest)...

surprise!!!

While waiting everyone get set and heading to darren’s birthday feast, the little mischief boy gave us a big surprise that he actually pick up another challenging skill – staircases climbing!

this is how he makes morning call to everyone recently. it is so disturbing and usually get scolded by er yee when she happened to stay in the same room.

Lunar birthday

4 Nov 08 (十月初七) - darren's first lunar calendar birthday

after a simple praying ceremony to the ancestors, several items were put in a tray before him - a book, pen, abacus (we used calculator as replacement), money and chicken drumstick. each of these items represent a career and the first object he touches is supposed to signify his inclination. this is a very old chinese tradition when the first son of a family turns one.

we actually reckon little darren will go for the calculator because the tv remote control used to be his no.1 toy. he loves playing the colorful buttons and even smash the remote control till it broken edges. since the calculator is similar look, it's not a wonder that he would go after it. so, guess what? the answer is absolutely correct! he even pick it up for thrice, not just once. even ah ma was trying to divert his attention to other objects, end up he still wanted the calculator!

it was rather a short ceremony, but because of his siesta time, little darren was pretty worn-out by the time it's over.

my first trip to KL & first McDonald meal!

2 Nov, it was the first outstation trip for little darren. er yee drove her precious "krubong vios" along with ah ma, ah gu and little darren far away to KL because uncle richard had admitted in ward for his heart surgery.

they had their scrumptious McD lunch together with xiao xiao ah yee at The Curve, a shopping mall nearby the hospital. this is the place where little darren had his first taste of fillet o' fish. unfortunately he doesn't seem enjoy much because ah ma feed him the bun with sour mayo! dear...

darren, you owe ah gu this...

poor ah gu... let our dear violent darren keep on bully him and can't even fight back.

almost stand UP

The next milestone for darren should be stand up at his own. nowadays he likes to lift up his buttock for a few seconds while crawling. this funny reaction although looks hilarious, but darren seems trying to make himself stand up.

no worries, mommy believe with few more practices, very soon darren could make it succeeds, perhaps before his first birthday. so加油加油!

ha, out of expectation that darren's doggie crawl can be such skillful and almost qualified for hurdles

I am almost 1 !!!

there I am, 11 months! how fast I am going to celebrate my 1st birthday in another few more weeks. hurray!!!

what's over there?

we have MOVED

it was hectic weeks for everyone since we moved to Bukit Cheng, the new place that gong gong, ah ma, ah gu and of course little darren are going to stay. from a 900 sq ft 3 bedrooms terrace to a 1980 sq ft double storey terrace with 5 bedrooms & 3 bathrooms, this has been long waited, especially darren i guess, so that no more boundary restriction to his freely movement.

see here, touch there... darren is the most curious boy in the house
